Porcellio laevis 'Milkbacks' are a hardy species of isopod and produce quickly once established. These Isopods are large and active. Members of this culture have an appearance of a white/off white back with varying degrees of white coloring the rest of their body. This is most likely an expression of Piebaldism. speckled pattern. This species is best kept for feeders, as pets, or with large hardy species such as a bearded dragon. This is due to the fact that this species requires a high protein diet and in rare cases, starving isopods may attempt to consume the carapace of freshly molted invertebrates or even gnaw on small or delicate reptiles or amphibians. However they can be a beautiful addition to your vivarium if you provide the appropriate husbandry.

Our P. Laevis cultures come in our own bioactive substrate in 8oz deli cups. We provide them with leaf litter and calcium to ensure their needs are met. Our cultures come in quantities of 12 and 24. These guys require a moisture gradient to succeed in molting and thermoregulation. We provide opposite corners of wet and dry sphagnum moss to achieve this. You will also notice a piece of our Iso-grub since these guys require a high protein diet. If any mold occurs during shipping, simply remove the food and mold, and the isopods should take care of the rest!
