Porcellio dilatatus Isopods are large isopods that reproduce fast and grows to just under 1" in length - these things are huge! Once established, their colony recovers quickly from harvesting, making them one of our favorite isopods for bioactive setups that are a bit more on the dry side. These isopods have a hard, calcified body and require a calcium source such as cuttle bone or eggshells to maintain this. These isopods enjoy warm temperatures and adequate moisture. They require a moisture gradient and thus are quite hardy.

Our P. Scaber cultures come in our own bioactive substrate in 8oz deli cups. We provide them with leaf litter and calcium to ensure their needs are met. Our cultures come in quantities of 12 and 24. These guys require a moisture gradient to succeed in molting and thermoregulation. We provide opposite corners of wet and dry sphagnum moss as well as proper ventilation to achieve this.
